Tshepo Phokojoe, under the guidance of celebrated visual artist Bronwyn Lace, participated in the 2017 Peer Mentoring program at Assemblage Studios. In addition to this, he has served as a studio assistant to prominent artists Nkhensani Rihlampfu and Nicholas Hlobo. Phokojoe’s artistic journey has been marked by several accolades, one of which is the 2017 PPC Imaginarium Merit Award for Fashion.
His artistic endeavors have also led to his recognition as the recipient of The Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize in 2023, a prestigious honor designed to support emerging young visual artists in launching their careers. This coveted award includes a twelve-week studio residency in Johannesburg, as well as the opportunity for a solo exhibition at the Everard Read Gallery in Johannesburg. Notable past recipients of this award include Abongile Sidzumo in 2020 and Tendai Mupita, who received it in 2016.
